The 2034 eruption of Mauna Loa was an explosive Strombolian type eruption, which began on October 25th at 2025 HST, and lasted for 27 days before abating, and the volcano fell into another period of dormancy. 22 people died as a result of the eruption, with 135 others being injured, mainly tourists who weren't aware of the danger. Total damages from the eruption were $105 million, one of the highest observed on the Big Island.
