The 2105 eruption of Tmurak Lake was a VEI 8 super-volcanic eruption, which began on January 15, before blowing itself to pieces on July 1st to form a new caldera within the volcanic island. This cause da tsunami, which went on to claim 67 lives, and to injure 300 more people, doing $400 million in damages. Therefore, the tsunami was actually more severe than the eruption itself. The total impacts form the eruption and resulting tsunami was the deaths of 97 people, 388 injuries, and $419 million in damages as a result. The global temperatures were dropped by 4*C, causing severe famines globally for the next 5 years.
