The 2205 eruption of the Maipo Caldera was an exceptionally violent and explosive eruption that began on June 13, 2205. 917 people died, and thousands more were injured, with $12 million being done in damages as a result of the event, a VEI 7 super eruption of ultra-Plinian type.
